From Campus UAV Competitions to the International Stage: The Journey of VAA Students
Within less than a month, students from the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) made their mark in two UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology competitions, demonstrating the growing capabilities and maturity of a new generation of young engineers in the fields of aviation and high technology.

Students of the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) have recently made their mark in two technology competitions focused on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
In early May 2026, the Vietnam Aviation Academy UAV Competition was held with the participation of student teams, clubs, and research groups. More than just a technical contest, the event provided a valuable platform for students to test innovative ideas, apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, and develop essential skills in teamwork, UAV design, manufacturing, and operation.

More than just a technical competition, the event served as a hands-on learning environment where students could test their ideas, apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, and strengthen their teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Building on the experience gained from this academic playground organized by the Academy, many students went on to participate in the 3rd International Competition on Research and Design of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), held from May 27–30, 2026, at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE).
The competition brought together universities, research teams, and experts from various countries, providing VAA students with valuable opportunities to exchange knowledge, showcase their capabilities, and gain exposure to the latest trends in UAV research and design.

The international competition brought together universities, research teams, and UAV experts from various countries. It provided not only an opportunity for Vietnamese students to engage in academic exchange but also a chance to explore emerging technologies in areas such as aerodynamics, flight control systems, and UAV applications in logistics, agriculture, smart cities, and the low-altitude economy.
As UAV technology continues to be one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world, hands-on experiences gained through these competitions help students strengthen their professional expertise while preparing them for careers in high-tech industries.
Moreover, the active participation of VAA students in competitions ranging from institutional to international levels reflects the Academy’s educational approach, which emphasizes practical training, research, innovation, and global integration. Through these experiences, students are empowered to transform academic knowledge into real-world solutions and confidently step into the future of aviation and advanced technology.

From a university-level academic competition to an international arena, this journey demonstrates that when students are given the right opportunities and environment, they can transform their passion for technology into meaningful achievements and take confident steps toward global integration and the future of aviation.
