STUDYING AT VAA, COMPETING IN UAV CONTESTS FROM DOMESTIC TO INTERNATIONAL ARENAS

In less than a month, students from the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) have made consecutive impressions across two Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology competitions, demonstrating the marked growth of young engineers in the aviation and high-tech sectors.

In early May 2026, the Vietnam Aviation Academy UAV Tournament took place with energetic participation from numerous student groups, clubs, and research teams. Far more than a technical contest, the event served as a practical proving ground for students to test concepts, apply classroom theory to practice, and hone team collaboration, structural design, manufacturing, and flight operation skills.

Drawing from the hands-on experience gained at the Academy-level tournament, several student teams advanced to compete in The 3rd International Competition on Research and Design of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, hosted from May 27 to 30, 2026, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education.

The international event convened universities, research collectives, and UAV specialists from multiple nations. It offered Vietnamese students a premier platform for academic exchange and direct exposure to emerging technological frontiers—ranging from aerodynamic modeling and flight control systems to practical UAV applications in logistics, agriculture, smart cities, and the low-altitude economy.

With UAVs emerging as one of today’s fastest-growing technological fields, hands-on competitive experience not only elevates students’ technical competencies but also lays a solid foundation for entering the high-tech workforce. Furthermore, ongoing student participation in academic contests—from campus initiatives to international arenas—exemplifies VAA’s strategic focus on practice-oriented training, scientific research, and global integration.
