Vietnam Aviation Academy opens new academic year: Training the next generation of strategic aviation workforce for the future
On the morning of September 5, the Vietnam Aviation Academy solemnly held the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year. The ceremony was connected online with the national event marking the 80th anniversary of the education sector and the country’s joint school opening ceremony, with the participation and keynote address of Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee Tô Lâm, together with senior leaders of the Party and the State.
General Secretary Tô Lâm struck the ceremonial drum to mark the start of the new school year, with its resonance reaching the Opening Ceremony at the Vietnam Aviation Academy on September 5.
At the Academy’s venue in Ho Chi Minh City, the ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, with the presence of representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, partner organizations, agencies, enterprises, the Academy’s Board of Directors, faculty members, parents, and thousands of students. The event not only marked the beginning of a new academic year, but also reaffirmed the Academy’s prestige and pivotal role in the strategic mission of training high-quality aviation human resources for the nation.
Delegates, lecturers, and students gathered at Hall F100 for the Opening Ceremony of the new academic year at the Vietnam Aviation Academy.
The 2025–2026 academic year marks a special milestone as the Academy welcomes more than 4,600 freshmen – the “young fledglings” of Cohort 19, who will continue to write the story of knowledge, integration, and the development of Vietnam’s aviation sector.
In her opening address, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hải Hằng – Director of the Academy – emphasized: “Today is not only the beginning of a new academic year, but also the departure flight of Cohort 19 at the Vietnam Aviation Academy. On this flight, each student – regardless of their field of study – has a unique role and mission. The future of the Academy, of the aviation industry, and of the nation rests in your hands. Dream big, act decisively, and live with compassion.”

The Academy is committed to continuously renewing its training programs, upholding international standards, and accompanying students on their journey to affirm their own value.
Vietnam Aviation Academy’s 2025 valedictorian – student Mai Minh Phương (Air Traffic Management major) – was honored at the Opening Ceremony.
One of the most emotional highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of the new valedictorians, including the overall valedictorian, Mai Minh Phương, who achieved a perfect score of 30, along with 13 top scorers representing each academic program.
