VIETNAM AVIATION ACADEMY ACCEPTS BASIC LEVEL MINISTRY-LEVEL PROJECT IN 2025 ON BUILDING A SET OF “GREEN AIRPORT” CRITERIA
Vietnam Aviation Academy has just organized the basic acceptance of the ministerial-level scientific project in 2025 entitled “Research on building a set of criteria for green airports and proposing mechanisms and policies to encourage the conversion of airports according to green criteria”, code DT25412, issued by Dr. Phan Thanh Minh head of the project. The topic is considered to have practical significance in the context of the Vietnamese aviation industry promoting the goal of emission reduction and sustainable development.
The project acceptance ceremony held at Vietnam Aviation Academy
Based on international standards such as ACA, ISO 14001 and LEED/BREEAM, and surveying typical green airport models in Singapore, the Netherlands, Qatar, etc., the research team has developed a set of Green Airport criteria suitable for Vietnam’s conditions. The criteria set includes 10 groups of contents from environmental management, waste, water, noise, air quality to renewable energy use, greenhouse gas emission reduction, climate change adaptation and biodiversity protection. In addition, the team proposed a shortened version of the criteria, making it easier for airports to implement in the initial phase.
The research team and the Council for Acceptance of the basic-level project chaired by Dr. Co Tan Anh Vu
The acceptance council, established under Decision No. 2766/QD-HVHK, including experts in the field of aviation and experienced lecturers, determined that the topic has scientific value and high applicability, contributing to providing a basis for green infrastructure development policies in the aviation industry.
Dr. Phan Thanh Minh presents research results
Dr. Phan Thanh Minh said that completing the criteria set not only supports environmental management at airports but is also an important foundation for Vietnam to move towards international certification programs, promote green transformation and enhance the competitiveness of the aviation industry in the region.
