Faculty of Civil Engineering: Meeting with a structural inspection technology expert – A new opportunity for Vietnam’s construction industry
On April 24, 2025, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering – Vietnam Aviation Academy had the honor of welcoming Mr. Bernard Hồ Đắc, CEO of OSMOS Group (France) and President of the French Union of Inventors (SYNNOV) – a leading expert in the field of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM).
The meeting opened up numerous opportunities for collaboration in applying advanced measurement technologies to the inspection and monitoring of structural safety in Vietnam.
Mr. Bernard Hồ Đắc, an inventor with multiple patents, is the pioneer behind the development of Optical Strand fiber optic sensor technology – a solution that enables real-time deformation monitoring and anomaly detection in structures. This technology contributes to extending the service life of structures and optimizing maintenance costs.
During the discussion, both parties explored the potential of applying OSMOS’s SHM solutions to infrastructure, bridge, and civil construction projects in Vietnam – a country currently facing significant challenges from climate change and rapid urbanization.
This marks an important first step in bringing modern structural monitoring technologies into practical use, contributing to improved safety and efficiency in Vietnam’s construction industry.
