Congratulations to the 8 outstanding seaplane pilots on successfully completing their training program!

The leadership of the Vietnam Aviation Academy congratulates the eight seaplane pilots.
Attending the graduation ceremony were Hero Pilot – Colonel Nguyễn Văn Nghĩa (Former Director of the Vietnam Aviation Academy), Rear Admiral Phạm Như Xuân (Deputy Commander of the Navy), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Hoài An (Chairman of the Council of the Vietnam Aviation Academy), Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hải Hằng (Director of the Vietnam Aviation Academy), and representatives from both units.
Over the course of three years, the pilots underwent training at the Vietnam Aviation Academy and in France, Italy, and Canada. Their training covered a wide range of subjects, including English proficiency from basic (IELTS 5.5) to advanced ICAO aviation English, commercial pilot licensing, instrument flight certification, crew coordination training, and certification for single-engine and twin-engine seaplane piloting. They also completed conversion training for the DHC-6 Series 400 seaplane.

Delegates Attending the Graduation Ceremony of the First DH-C6 Seaplane Pilot Training Program
After three years of training at the Vietnam Aviation Academy and in France, Italy, and Canada, the pilots completed an intensive curriculum. Their training covered various aspects, including English proficiency from basic (IELTS 5.5) to advanced ICAO aviation English, commercial pilot licensing, instrument flight certification, and crew coordination training. They also obtained certifications for single-engine and twin-engine seaplane piloting, along with conversion training for the DHC-6 Series 400 seaplane. Having successfully completed their training, all eight pilots of the first DH-C6 cohort have returned home.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Rear Admiral Phạm Như Xuân congratulated the Vietnam Aviation Academy on its successful training efforts and commended the achievements of the first DH-C6 cohort. He also encouraged the pilots to continue enhancing their political will and professional skills, applying their knowledge effectively to become outstanding pilots. He emphasized the importance of safe flights and contributing to the firm protection of the nation’s airspace and maritime sovereignty.

After three years of rigorous training at the Vietnam Aviation Academy and in France, Italy, and Canada, eight seaplane pilots have successfully completed their program and returned home to serve their country.
Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hải Hằng, Director of the Vietnam Aviation Academy, extended her congratulations to the pilots for their outstanding achievements. She emphasized that the Academy takes great pride in being entrusted by the Vietnam People’s Navy with the mission of training future military pilots. She highlighted the strong collaboration between the two institutions, which has resulted in a well-structured, disciplined, and internationally standardized training program. This partnership ensures that each returning pilot is equipped with not only political steadfastness but also the knowledge and skills necessary to serve in the Naval Air Force, particularly in Brigade 954—the core unit responsible for safeguarding the nation’s maritime sovereignty.
Reflecting on the journey of the pilot trainees, their unwavering dedication is evident. From their early days at the Academy, where they built a foundation in general and aviation-specific English along with fundamental aeronautical knowledge, to their time at ENAC—one of France’s most prestigious pilot training schools—they demonstrated relentless effort. Their training continued with intensive hands-on experience flying the DHC-6 seaplanes in Malta under the guidance of Nordic partners. Each stage of this demanding journey required perseverance, discipline, and an iron will to meet the high standards set by the program.
