April 30, 1975, marks a glorious milestone in the history of building and defending the nation of Vietnam. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh, our army and people achieved the historic Spring Victory of 1975, bringing an end to a dark and painful era of division, and ushering in a new epoch—an era of independence, national unity, and territorial integrity, with the entire country moving forward toward socialism. This victory is the result of countless sacrifices made by generations who laid down their lives, and a continuation of the indomitable and resilient spirit that has run through thousands of years of our nation’s history.

In 2025, the entire Party, people, and army of Vietnam solemnly commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification—a moment to reflect on our heroic past, and to remember and express profound gratitude to the heroic martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, wounded soldiers, and all those who devoted themselves to the revolutionary cause—those who bravely fought and sacrificed their blood for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Fifty years have passed, and Vietnam has undergone a remarkable transformation. From the ruins of war, our people have gradually rebuilt the homeland, moving forward with strength and determination, achieving great and historically significant accomplishments across all fields—economy, culture, society, national defense, security, and foreign affairs. Today, Vietnam is a peaceful, stable, and developing country that increasingly affirms its role and position in the international arena.

These achievements are living proof of the power of national unity, the sound leadership of the Party, and the resilient spirit of a nation that has endured many wars, yet has always stood firm, revived, and progressed.

The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification is not only an occasion to recall our proud history, but also a moment to awaken national pride and strengthen our faith in the revolutionary ideals, in the path that the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and our people have chosen.

It is also a time for today’s young generation to recognize their responsibilities: the duty to safeguard independence and freedom, to carry forward the revolutionary cause, and to build a prosperous, civilized, and modern nation. In this era of globalization, alongside great opportunities come unprecedented challenges. The mission of today’s generation is to honor our heroic tradition, to innovate, advance science and technology, master knowledge, preserve cultural identity, and firmly protect our sovereignty and national interests.

Proud of the historic victory of April 30, and deeply grateful for the immense sacrifices of earlier generations, we become even more aware of the value of peace and more confident in the road ahead. The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification serves as a powerful reminder for every Vietnamese to forever cherish the truth: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.”

More than ever, our entire Party, people, and army must unite as one, uphold our glorious traditions, accelerate industrialization and modernization, foster innovation, and pursue sustainable, green economic development. With revolutionary heroism and national solidarity, we are determined to build a powerful, prosperous, and happy Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents, just as President Ho Chi Minh once dreamed.
