The “Lighting Up Rural Roads” project was directly surveyed, constructed, and completed by VAA Green Summer volunteers with the coordination and support of local authorities and partnering units. Throughout implementation, volunteers actively participated in transporting materials, excavating foundation pits, erecting light poles, wiring electrical lines, and installing the illumination system, ensuring on-time progress, construction quality, and technical safety standards.

Following an intensive construction effort, the project was successfully completed along a nearly 1.5-kilometer route with 25 lighting poles, giving the residential area a refreshed appearance. Bringing the lighting system into operation not only facilitates safer nighttime travel for residents and enhances local security and traffic safety, but also improves daily living standards for communities in the border region.

Speaking at the ceremony, leaders recognized and highly commended the sense of responsibility and enthusiasm demonstrated by VAA youth in carrying out practical, community-oriented projects. They also expressed their hope that youth union members and students will continue to champion their pioneering and creative role, undertaking meaningful activities to foster ongoing local development.

The moment the first lights were switched on not only marked the completion of a youth project, but also symbolized faith, hope, and the youth’s shared journey alongside residents in the borderland. The light from the project illuminates formerly dark pathways while spreading compassion, civic responsibility, and the younger generation’s desire to serve.
