Recently, the Vietnam Aviation Academy successfully organized the workshop “Blue Ocean Strategy,” a key activity within its series of programs aimed at shaping the Academy’s strategic development orientation for the new phase.
The workshop brought together the full participation of the Academy’s core leadership, including the Party Executive Committee, the Academy Council, the Board of Directors, as well as leaders of departments, faculties, specialized units, and affiliated mass organizations.

Amid increasing competitive pressure in aviation education, the strong demand for digital transformation, and higher requirements for the quality of human resources, the “Blue Ocean” strategy has been identified by the Academy as a core approach to move beyond traditional competitive thinking and to seek new development spaces based on value innovation, differentiation, and sustainable growth.
Rather than engaging in direct competition in the “red ocean,” the Academy proactively creates new values in training, research, and governance, aligned with the specific characteristics of the aviation sector and broader societal development trends, with the quality of student education placed at the center of all strategic decisions.

More than a conventional strategic meeting, the workshop was designed as an open “arena of ideas,” where perspectives were exchanged and constructively debated. A key highlight of the program was two rounds of in-depth discussions and presentations conducted by five interdisciplinary groups, bringing together members from various departments, faculties, and units across the Academy.
The groups approached a wide range of strategic perspectives, from sector-level development directions such as automation and the Low-Altitude Economy (LAE), airport cities and Aerotropolis, human factors, safety and security, digital transformation in aviation, and the Green Aviation trend (Discussion Session 1), to core organizational issues at the institutional level. These included the Vietnam Aviation Academy’s role as an education service enterprise, innovating KPI systems to enhance motivation, improving the student learning experience, developing students as brand ambassadors, and creating a “Blue Ocean” in scientific research (Discussion Session 2).

Although approached from different fields and levels, all discussions converged on a shared objective: identifying new development spaces for the Academy, where innovations in governance, technology, and organizational models are directed toward enhancing the quality of education, the student learning experience, and students’ professional competencies.
Through multidimensional discussions, cross-feedback, and persuasive presentations, the “Blue Ocean” mindset was translated from a strategic vision into concrete orientations and feasible solutions, laying a solid foundation for the implementation of development strategies in the next phase.

Notably, the integration of administrative and academic divisions within the same interdisciplinary teams enhanced the effectiveness of brain teaming, enabling strategic issues to be examined more holistically and closely aligned with operational realities.
The workshop also served as an effective “strategic playground,” providing opportunities for the Board of Directors and leaders at all levels to directly listen to opinions, proposals, and initiatives from departments, faculties, and units, thereby strengthening consensus and fostering a high level of unity in both awareness and action.

The workshop concluded, but the value gained by the Academy and each participant was truly significant
Although the workshop came to an end, the value gained by the Academy and every individual participant was profound. Each member had the opportunity to cultivate and strengthen Blue Ocean strategic thinking, while also enhancing mutual understanding, internal cohesion, and a strong sense of unity—laying a solid foundation for translating the Academy’s strategic orientations into reality in the period ahead.
