Since 2022, the French National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC) and the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) have signed a cooperation agreement for basic pilot training. Under this partnership, pilot trainees are jointly selected and trained by VAA and ENAC to obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) along with an Instrument Flight Rules – Multi-Engine (IFR-ME) certification, which is recognized by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV). This pilot training agreement is a continuation of the collaboration between the two institutions, which began in 2017 with the launch of an Advanced Professional Master’s program in Aviation Safety Management. This 2-year program was designed for aviation professionals and experts in Vietnam.

The selected pilot trainees will undergo the entire theoretical and practical training program in English, aimed at providing the Vietnam Aviation Academy with highly qualified pilots who meet European standards. On February 18, 2022, the first group of 10 trainees arrived in France and began their training at ENAC in Toulouse. Subsequent training batches will be implemented according to the agreed plan between the two institutions.

This collaboration will strengthen our position in Southeast Asia, especially in a dynamic market like Vietnam. This agreement is the first step in a long-term, effective partnership in pilot training with the Vietnam Aviation Academy.”

Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hải Hằng, Director of Vietnam Aviation Academy, affirmed: “The partnership with ENAC, a prestigious aviation university in France and Europe, is truly meaningful for the Vietnam Aviation Academy. We hope to expand this collaboration to bring world-class aviation training programs to Vietnam and the wider Southeast Asian region.”
