On the morning of July 31, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations held the inaugural ceremony for the “Friendship Route” on Phan Thi So Street, Cu Chi Commune. The event was attended by municipal leaders, representatives of diplomatic missions, Consulates General, business associations, overseas Vietnamese, and a large number of youth union members.

This project commemorates the 50th anniversary of Saigon – Gia Dinh officially bearing the name of President Ho Chi Minh, while celebrating the success of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (2026–2031 tenure). Furthermore, naming the road after Heroic Vietnamese Mother Phan Thi So reflects deep gratitude for the sacrifices of previous generations, upholding the nation’s tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source.”
In response to the initiative, the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) contributed 63 million VND in sponsorship funding and mobilized a delegation of faculty members, lecturers, and students to plant 500 purple crape myrtle trees along the road bearing Heroic Vietnamese Mother Phan Thi So’s name.

Representing the Academy at the event were:
- Dr. Nguyen Thi Vinh Tran – Head of the Strategy and Development Department, Vietnam Aviation Academy;
- Dr. Huynh Diep Tram Anh – Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Aviation Services, Vietnam Aviation Academy.
Alongside representatives of diplomatic corps, international organizations, corporate partners, and local authorities, the VAA delegation directly engaged in the tree-planting activity. This initiative contributes to greening the thoroughfare, promoting environmental protection, and advancing sustainable development. The activity also responded to the “500-Day-and-Night Campaign to Search for, Gather, and Identify Fallen Soldiers’ Remains” and the national 1-billion-tree program for a greener Vietnam.

VAA’s participation not only underscores the institution’s social responsibility toward the wider community, but also nurtures volunteerism, ecological awareness, and historical gratitude among its students. It provides an opportunity for Academy youth to demonstrate their vanguard spirit through community actions that support Ho Chi Minh City’s green and sustainable growth.
