VAA Partners with Industry to Build a Drone Lab, Bridging the Gap Between the Classroom and the Innovation Ecosystem

On the morning of July 29, the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) hosted the Innovation and Startup Forum 2026 under the theme “Resolution 57 & the Aspirations of VAA Students: A Launchpad for Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” attracting more than 500 students.

The forum highlighted VAA’s commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship by strengthening collaboration with industry partners. Through initiatives such as the Drone Lab, the Academy aims to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, connect them with the innovation ecosystem, and empower them to transform ideas into real-world technological solutions.

Research Turns Classroom Knowledge into Real-World Innovation

According to Nguyễn Văn Quý, participating in projects involving the research, design, development, and testing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has shown students that the knowledge gained in the classroom can be transformed into practical, real-world solutions—provided they have the right environment and mentorship. “I used to think scientific research was something distant and difficult to access. But after joining the UAV Club and working alongside our lecturers and senior teammates, I realized that research begins with real-world challenges. It’s about identifying problems, working together to find solutions, testing ideas, and continuously improving the final product,” Quý shared.

He also emphasized that, as artificial intelligence (AI), UAV technologies, and the Low Altitude Economy continue to advance rapidly, students should look beyond simply securing a job after graduation. Instead, they should actively develop research capabilities, an innovative mindset, and the confidence to create technologies and solutions that generate meaningful value for society.

VAA and Saolatek Sign Partnership to Establish a Drone Lab

A highlight of the forum was the signing ceremony between the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA) and Saolatek.

Under the partnership agreement, the two organizations will collaborate to establish a Drone Lab and jointly develop education, research, and technology transfer programs in the fields of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the Low Altitude Economy. The partnership will also support applied research projects, organize innovation competitions, and provide students with greater opportunities to engage in scientific research, technological innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Students Connect Directly with Leaders and Businesses

In the discussion session moderated by Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hải Hằng, students engaged in meaningful conversations with VAA leaders and industry representatives, exploring topics such as launching a startup journey, preparing skills for the AI-driven era, pursuing scientific research, developing technology products, and accessing institutional support for innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Students had the opportunity to engage directly with VAA leaders and industry representatives.

The speakers shared a common perspective that entrepreneurship is not defined solely by starting a business. It begins with the ability to identify and solve real-world problems, cultivate innovative thinking, strengthen research skills, and embrace experimentation in the journey of transforming ideas into valuable solutions for society.
