On May 13, 2025, at the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA), the ministerial-level scientific and technological project “Research and Development of a Virtual Reality-Based Simulation System for Ramp Safety Training and Professional Enhancement” (Code: AT24301), led by Dr. Pham Minh Vuong, was successfully accepted. The project marks a significant advancement in applying Industry 4.0 technologies to aviation training, improving both efficiency and safety for industry personnel.

Ramp Safety is a critical aspect of aviation operations, requiring personnel to master procedures and handle complex situations flexibly. Recognizing the limitations of traditional training methods in terms of visualization, Dr. Pham Minh Vuong and his research team developed a virtual reality (VR) simulation system to realistically replicate ramp environments, enabling trainees to practice safety skills in an immersive virtual space.

The project achieved outstanding results, successfully establishing a comprehensive database of ramp safety regulations from both international and domestic organizations, combined with a detailed 3D map of Tan Son Nhat Airport. The research team developed a user-friendly VR simulation software tailored for three key professional groups, integrating special scenarios such as adverse weather and emergencies. The VR-based e-learning system, combining theory and hands-on practice, was successfully trialed at VAA and highly praised for its practical applicability. The scientific council commended the project for its innovation, feasibility, and effectiveness, recommending its widespread adoption in VAA’s training programs and other aviation training centers.

The research team extends its gratitude to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority (CAAV), Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), as well as experts and lecturers at the Vietnam Aviation Academy for their support and collaboration throughout the project.
