The First International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Research and Design Competition 2024 was a great success.

On November 22, 2024, the Closing Ceremony of the First International Competition on Research and Design of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV Competition 2024) took place, marking the success of the first international science and technology competition in Vietnam in this field.

The competition ended successfully, attracting the attention of the student community; creating a great resonance for UAV application research activities in Vietnamese universities. The competition not only promotes the passion for scientific research among students but also opens up opportunities for international cooperation, contributing to promoting global technological and educational progress.

Vietnam Aviation Academy Team

The first competition ended, after 2 days of intense matches between 9 teams. In the end, the SkyVision team from Ton Duc Thang University won the Championship; the 2nd place went to SkyNetics team also from Ton Duc Thang University and the 3rd place went to Propellers team from the Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic). The Sempa team (Tomas Bata University) won the Encouragement Prize. The Innovation Prize went to VAERO team (Vietnam Aviation Academy).

On the same day, the founding member schools of the Competition agreed to organize the “2nd International UAV Design and Manufacturing Competition” which will take place at the Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic) in June 2025; with an expected scale of about 25 teams from 10-15 universities participating, from Vietnam, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, the Netherlands, France, etc.

The 2nd Competition will be held with topics that bring new trends in the field of UAV design such as: optimizing the use of UAV energy, intelligent navigation and positioning for UAVs, reducing carbon emissions in aviation with Hydrogen, designing specialized ICs for UAV applications in agriculture, military, environmental monitoring, etc.
