VAA Strengthens High-Tech Cooperation with the CLARA Project and INDRC (Czech Republic)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Hoai An, on behalf of the Academy, presented a meaningful souvenir to Dr. Miroslav Voznak – Director of the INDRC Institute.
On March 3, 2026, at the Vietnam Aviation Academy (VAA), the Academy’s leadership held an important working session with a delegation from the IT Development Research Center (INDRC) and the CLARA Project (Czech Republic) to formalize cooperation in high-technology sectors.
Welcoming the delegation from the Vietnam Aviation Academy were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Hoai An – President of the Academy, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hai Hang, representatives from the Department of Science, Technology & International Cooperation, as well as faculty members from the Faculty of Information Technology and the Digital Transformation Center.
The international delegation included Prof. Václav Snášel – Director of the CLARA Project (former Rector of the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava) and Dr. Miroslav Voznak – Director of the INDRC Institute.
Dr. Le Minh Hung presented an in-depth report on the AI and medical imaging projects currently being implemented by the team.
During the session, Dr. Le Minh Hung, a lecturer at VAA’s Faculty of Information Technology, reported on the breakthrough research achievements of the Academy’s AI group. Key projects include:
(1) Chest Pathology Diagnosis via X-ray: Utilizing the Cross-EvaNet architecture to simultaneously detect 14 pathological conditions with high precision, assisting doctors in rapid screening.
(2) Diabetic Retinopathy Classification: Developing Deep Learning models for early diagnosis and classification of five pathology levels based on fundus images.
(3) Breast Cancer Segmentation in Histopathology: Applying the DINOv3 foundation model combined with custom loss functions to accurately identify invasive tissue areas.
(4) Breast Lesion Classification on MRI: Researching the optimization of MRI sequences (T2, Pre, Sub) and 3D visualization spaces to enhance cancer screening effectiveness.
Prof. Václav Snášel, Director of the CLARA Project, highly commended the research results presented by Dr. Le Minh Hung and his colleagues. He affirmed that the AI team at VAA possesses the caliber required to participate in and contribute significantly to the Big Data work packages of the CLARA project.
The CLARA Project (funded by Czech research infrastructure funds) focuses on building high-performance computing systems. VAA’s deep involvement in this project will provide faculty and students with unprecedented access to modern global technologies.
The meeting concluded in an atmosphere of enthusiasm, sparking numerous ideas for joint research projects in the near future. This collaboration aims to establish the Vietnam Aviation Academy as a prominent hub for applied AI research in the region.
